ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE – LAKE LEVEL REPORT

Posted on: September 7, 2018  |

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation, Water Management hosted an Open House to provide information on the possible lake level scenarios and request input on a brief survey from all concerned cottagers. It was well attended and we look forward to the summary of the information gathered by MIT. Committee members Al Bezak, Bob Harrison and myself along with Cheryl Bryant and our President, Alan Roberts attended and had further discussions with many cottagers after the event. Alan will provide his views on this event in his Presidents Report.

Sue Atkin from Sustainable Development sent out a letter to all lot holders in the McKenzie Bay Boat Channel advising of the dredging operation taking place between September 10th and 21st 2018. By the time you read this it should be complete. Further dredging operations will be taking place in the Falcon Lake Boathouse channels as well.   Notices have been sent to those lot holders and the work is expected to be completed by early October.

Lake levels in the Park are generally at their summer levels despite the lack of rainfall.  The committee is scheduling our fall meeting with MIT to discuss winter drawdown plans and review issues that have arisen through this operating season.   Thanks to those who have phoned, emailed or otherwise communicated your concerns to the members of this committee.
