Winnipeg River flow reductions

Posted on: May 4, 2020  |

The Lake of the Woods Control Board reports that they will be directing daily small flow reductions out of Lake of the Woods starting May 5 in response to the current dry conditions. Precipitation in the basin has been below average for the past few weeks and there have been sharp reductions in flow out of the Rainy Lake basin. The current forecast is predicting much less rainfall than is typical for this time of year. The planned flow reductions will help store water in the lake and maintain longer-term Winnipeg River levels and flows in case of prolonged dry weather.

Please refer to our Notice Board for specific details on scheduled daily outflow changes: http://www.lwcb.ca/noticeboard.html
