Whiteshell Road Construction Update as of October 7

Posted on: October 14, 2020  |

The WCA has recently received the following information about road work in the park.

Falcon South Shore Road Project

  • Nelson River Construction had labour issues (Sept 24th) which caused two interruptions in the work.
  • This was resolved & work commenced again on Oct 5th.
  • Crews will be taking three days off for Thanksgiving & then going 7 days a week until completion weather permitting
  • Still intend to fully complete by end of October.

North Whiteshell Access Road graveling

ER77 at Brereton was completed in September

Update Oct 7, 2020 – “We planned on graveling as many cottage roads this year as our budget allowed but due to increased usage and costs we had to scale back the amount of the gravel contract. Our plan for the next operating seasons are to keep graveling roads to the south until they are complete. Once roads are done to the south we will look to gravel roads to the west from 307,309 junction.”

Well folks – we’ve reached 10,000 followers on our Facebook page – a long time personal goal of mine. Having administered this page since 2017 & having now reached this goal it will soon be time for me to move on & have someone else at WCA administer the page. Hoping to hand it over before end of February. The biggest jump in followers occurred during the 2021 Wildfires and during the 2022 floods as WCA kept cottagers & other park users informed- often 16 hour days during these events, always 7 days a week. And does anything say “Whiteshell” more than Daniel Alexander’s amazing wildlife videos & photos? We’ve had some of our Facebook posts reach well over 100,000 people & some posts were picked up by the media and made the news.Big thank you to Kristin Pingatore, Deborah Sequin & Angela Hogan who originally set up the WCA Facebook page & then trusted me to administer it all these years.Lastly a big thank you to all of you who contribute to our page by submitting photos, videos, news & stories.Be sure to support the WCA & whoever takes over this page in the days to come. ...
