Caddy Air Field – Manitoba Historical SocietyDuring the Great Depression of the 1930s, the Canadian federal government employed able-bodied, unemployed men to build public infrastructure. In return for their labour, each man was provided with food, shelter, and 20 cents per day. In Manitoba, three construction gangs worked in the Whiteshell Forest Reserve (today’s Whiteshell Provincial Park) to build roads to enable the development of tourism in this part of the province. Between Fall 1933 and Spring 1934, one hundred men from the Caddy Lake Relief Camp, under the supervision of Col. Good morning, we found a small water craft (paddle boat) adrift in Big Whiteshell Lake. It was found floating in the middle of the lake no where near a cabin. I was wondering if you could post something for me? If they can identify what it is then we will know it is going to the rightful owner. They can message me to identify what it is and for pick up information. Or call me at 1 (204) 348-3294. ... See MoreSee Less
