The Cottage World Premiere at MTC

Posted on: February 7, 2019  |

This event might be of interest to Whiteshell Cottagers!

“The Cottage” will be premiering at MTC John Hirsch Mainstage on April 24th.  Here is a message from the writer, Jake MacDonald

Hello Whiteshell Cottagers

I am a Winnipeg writer and a lifelong cottager with a place in Minaki. I have spent a lot of time on and around the Whiteshell and written about it as well. I have long been intrigued by the relationship that Manitobans have with their precious cottages and several years ago I started working on a play called “The Cottage”.
It has been quite a long process but this spring, the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre will be holding the “world premiere” on the main stage, with the esteemed Jennifer Lyon (of Gimli) in the lead role. (April 24-May18)
Thanks very much
Jake MacDonald

Well folks – we’ve reached 10,000 followers on our Facebook page – a long time personal goal of mine. Having administered this page since 2017 & having now reached this goal it will soon be time for me to move on & have someone else at WCA administer the page. Hoping to hand it over before end of February. The biggest jump in followers occurred during the 2021 Wildfires and during the 2022 floods as WCA kept cottagers & other park users informed- often 16 hour days during these events, always 7 days a week. And does anything say “Whiteshell” more than Daniel Alexander’s amazing wildlife videos & photos? We’ve had some of our Facebook posts reach well over 100,000 people & some posts were picked up by the media and made the news.Big thank you to Kristin Pingatore, Deborah Sequin & Angela Hogan who originally set up the WCA Facebook page & then trusted me to administer it all these years.Lastly a big thank you to all of you who contribute to our page by submitting photos, videos, news & stories.Be sure to support the WCA & whoever takes over this page in the days to come. ...
