A member recently contacted us about a suspected phone scam where someone claiming to represent the WCA asked for their credit card information. We have done membership phone campaigns in previous years, but for our member protection, the WCA requests payments be made either by cheque or online through our secure PayPal portal.
If you have suffered any financial losses due to a phone scam, contact the Winnipeg Police Financial crimes unit at 204-986-6231 or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center at https://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/report-signalez-eng.htm.
If you receive any calls from fraudsters claiming to represent the WCA, please let us know by emailing WCA@whiteshellcottagers.com. You may also contact your lake director.
