May 13 South Whiteshell Fire Afternoon Update

Manitoba Parks has provided the following updates this afternoon

There have been some bigger changes to restrictions, please refer to fire bulletin #8.  No camp fires allowed, all hiking, water route trails etc closed, a few trails do remain open, the Toniata campground will be closed to entry.  Park staff will start erecting barricades with closures sign at effected trail heads.

Two helicopters and 5 crews continue to action this fire, the fire has not grown in size at this time. Water Bombers have not been necessary today but three are on their way now.   Parks staff are in the final stages of going door to door to cottagers with proactive messaging in the event of evacuation in the West Hawk townsite area.

More updates will follow as info becomes available.
