July 15 Whiteshell Wildfire Update

The following updates were received from Manitoba Parks today.  None of the fires are posing a threat at this time.

A new fire was identified today at Big Whiteshell between the Polish Camp and the old Castaway Cabins site.  This is a 0.5 ha fire. Crews/tankers onsite.   This is a different fire location from yesterday.  Updates to follow when more info becomes available.

Yesterday’s fire south west of of Big Whiteshell Lake EA135.   It is 1 ha in size and is being held.

July 13 Nutimik Lake fire – EA 124 is 1.1 hectares in size and is now under control

July 13 Betula Lake fire – EA 127 is 1 hectare in size and is now under control.

It was determined that the July 13 and 14 fires were caused by lightning.
