July 14 Whiteshell Wildfire Update

The following update was received from Manitoba Parks today

A new fire south west of of Big Whiteshell Lake was identified.   It is 1 ha in size.  An initial attach crew is onsite and water tankers have been dispatched.

Nutimik Lake fire – EA 124 is 1.1 hectares in size.  One initial attack crew on today.

Betula Lake fire – EA 127 is 0.4 hectares in size.  One initial attack crew on today.

All there fires continue to not pose a threat at this time.

It was determined that the Nutimik and Betula fires were caused by lightning.
