WCA Environment Committee Report – July 12, 2019
We contacted MIT regarding the persistent high level of Falcon Lake which had reached 1066.25 on several occasions. They have continued to monitor the situation, and in consultation with Fisheries concerns of late spawning in early June, began to bring the lake down to the midpoint of the range.
The Betula Lake water quality survey has been sent out to all cottagers on the lake. Surveys are coming in steady with approximately 49 returned as of July 10. To those who have not completed the survey there is still time. More responses mean better information for the Province to review.
Due to the abnormally low rainfall this spring the lakes are, in most cases, below the target levels. Last weeks’ heavy rainfall is a welcome relief to this situation since higher temperatures are being forecast for the next week or so.
